Up, down, sideways and backwards—the stock market’s gyrations during the last six weeks have made even hardened investors queasy.
But most people, aside from those trying to time the market, can probably relax and look the other way. The U.S. economy is getting stronger, not weaker, and nothing about the 8% drop in stocks since mid-July suggests a recession or even a slowdown is imminent.
